#EndSARS Protest is an ongoing nationwide peaceful protest in Nigeria against Police Brutality by Special Anti-Robbery Squad, a unit of Nigerian Police Force known to extort, harass, assault, rape, murder Nigerians. The movement is pushing for Police reform, dissolution of SARS, Justice, Accountability and Good Governance in Nigeria.
However, protesters who’s placards contain #QueerNigerianLivesMatter have been harassed at physical protests by other protesters who accuse them of hijacking the protest. Online Protesters have suffered homophobic harassment. Although LGBTQ+ persons experience the Extortion, Sexual Assault and Brutalization by the Nigerian Police for being Queer & Young Nigerians. With “disbanded" SARS operatives raiding houses at night, they need safe houses from attacks during these protests.
