Changes to the Safe Hquse
Safe Hquse wants to thank everyone who has reached out to inquire about our well-being, given donations and most importantly referred us to Queer Nigerian Youths in need of our resources.
Safe Hquse has had significant changes to its Team and how requests are being processed. In this notice, we address both.
Changes to SH Team
On 25th October 2020, Temmie Ovwasa informed Adaeze Fèyísàyò she wants to resign her position as Coordinator to address the allegation made against her. She resigned her position the morning of 25th. She was paid a dissolution pay for termination of her services as Coordinator.
On 27th October 2020, Tobi Afolabi service as Design & Tech Support ended. The need for her role had ended. She was paid a dissolution pay for termination of her services as Design & Tech Support.
On 29th October 2020, Matthew Blaise was reassigned from the position of Coordinator to Fundraiser where he had excelled at. He was paid a dissolution pay for termination of his services as Coordinator. He expressed on 31st October 2020 that he would no longer work with Safe Hquse as he needs time to take care of himself.
We wish all of them the very best with their future endeavours.
On 26th October 2020, our Volunteer Lara accepted our offer for the position of Coordinator. Ever since then Adaeze and Lara have divided the responsibilities of the previous Coordinators between themselves.
Changes to Request Processing
Safe Hquse has operated virtually during the duration of this SHORT-TERM PROJECT offering RESOURCES (Feeding, Transport, Temporary Housing, MediCare, Airtime) to Queer EndSARS protesters and survivors of shooting in the 8 Nigerian states we’ve catered to.
However, we wrapped up offering resources to survivors of nationwide shootings, lootings, and murders since 28th October 2020. The urgency needed during the aftermath of such shootings has subsided.
We have been processing requests within 24–48 hrs via our new Request Form. Due to a rise in scammers trying to exploit our limited resources and need to take necessary precautions.
